School Library Journal - 02/01/2026 PreS-Gr 2—An adorable addition to Yoon's picture book series; this time, spring is the focus of wonder for the little brown puppy, all excited to get outdoors and find some adventures in the flowers and green grass. Upon exiting the doggy door, the little pup leaps into luscious grass and a rainbow assortment of flowers, rolling and sniffing. And then, a fit of sneezing hits and the dog discovers that allergies are a real thing. Scampering quickly back to the safety of the house and the human who lives there, the pup reemerges with a kerchief and goggles to brave the pollen while enjoying the newfound season. Readers will find the doggy's excitement palpable, with all the rollicking and leaping in the gorgeous display of flowers; brightly colored mixed-media illustrations bring the scenes to life. Short, simple sentences with sound words are spread throughout. The single character in the story is illustrated with a warm brown tone that complements the overall appearance of the book. VERDICT Hand to fans of Mo Willems's Elephant and Piggie, as well as those who love Yoon's other stories. A first purchase for all libraries where little readers frolic.—Tracy Cronce - Copyright 2026 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
Booklist - 02/01/2026 In this third installment of her Is This . . . ? series, Yoon delivers a whimsical, charming homage to spring. A playful puppy romps through a flower-filled field, tail practically wagging off the page—until a sudden, petal-scattering sneezing fit that unfolds over several pages reveals a heartbreaking truth: the pup is allergic to spring! Devastated, the dog retreats indoors and cries to its human, who pauses spring cleaning to offer comfort and devise a solution. The puppy soon reemerges, now sporting the owner’s bandana and goggles. Though the pup might not be able to smell the flowers, it revels in being outside again, tail wagging while frolicking and rolling through the field with a renewed spring in its step. Readers will laugh at the puppy’s melodramatic ways and empathize with its familiar plight, all while enjoying a story that blossoms with humor and heart. The cartoon art style, with exaggerated, expressive characters, is set against a vibrant, color-speckled field of flowers. A delightful read-aloud, perfect for fans of Mo Willems and Mac Barnett. - Copyright 2026 Booklist.
