Booklist - 11/01/2024 This second level-3 early reader comic featuring the Fix-Its (after Nail Needs Help, 2024) finds the animated hand tools eager to welcome a new friend: Power Drill. Hand Drill and the screwdrivers are happy to help the Screws get to where they need to go, but Power Drill can do it much, much faster. The hand tools appreciate the break as Power Drill handles the work—so much so that they use their new free time to prepare a party to welcome the new tool. They wait and wait for Power Drill to join them, but the battery-powered tool keeps working to the point of exhaustion, and the other tools come up with a good solution for helping their new friend get the rest they need and make sure they feel appreciated. Reul’s open panels, appealing artwork, and restrained vocabulary make this STEM-themed comic very approachable, and the SEL angle of the story—exploring themes of burnout, asking for help, and showing gratitude in a mindful way—will be useful to elementary-schoolers. - Copyright 2024 Booklist.
