School Library Journal - 06/27/2025 PreS-Gr 2—When a vampire (possibly named Terrence) bites into a jam sandwich (thinking it's something else), it becomes a Vampire Jam Sandwich! Now it craves jam! The narrator describes all the ways to keep jam safely away from the Vampire Jam Sandwich, like hiding all of it in a big box. And make sure to write on the box "No Vampire Jam Sandwiches allowed." The narrator even helps readers to spell it: T-E-R-R-E-N-C-E. While not a traditional Halloween book, it does feature a vampire of sorts and would be a fun option for spooky but silly story times. Illustrations use color effectively with mostly sepia tones. This allows the hue of the jam and other red shades to really pop. The text implements various sizes and locations on the page to flow with the illustrations and to keep the story engaging.
