Lord’s witty writing style shines in this bantery romance, but she just as adeptly showcases Sadie’s gradual realization that it’s okay to break away from what others want her to be in pursuit of her own passions, regardless of how successful she appears in the process. In addition to being a satisfying rom-com, this book is an ode to those who feel like rising to the top is the only way to receive accolades and to obtain self-acceptance.
