Booklist - 08/01/2025 Axolotl is a bright pink older sister who is full of energy and always on the move, performing jumping jacks, skateboarding, and playing an instrument. Her younger brother, Axolittle, is a small yellow creature with round, green glasses who prefers quieter pursuits, such as reading, drawing, and relaxing. For the most part, the two siblings get along just fine—but not always. When Axolotl gets a bit too rambunctious, she gets on her gentler brother’s nerves and damages a painting he was working on. After a loud quarrel breaks out, Dad patiently calms his offspring and helps them “axo-pologize.” The tale is told in rhyming couplets, with cleverly inventive words that are fun to read aloud. The artwork clearly reveals the father’s peaceful handling of his children’s argument and the love the three have for each other. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
