Booklist - 11/01/2024 Duchess Wigtower anonymously abandons her destructive pet kitten at Princess Magnolia's front door. The Princess in Black gleefully adopts the feline, who immediately begins destroying her castle. In between monster emergencies, the PIB reads up on kitten care, providing her pet with everything imaginable, and yet the fluff-ball continues ripping wallpaper, shredding pillows, clawing drapes, and pooping in her bedroom slippers. The remedy for a recent monster problem (a grouchy creature annoying goats because it is bored) inadvertently provides Magnolia with a workable solution to her own catastrophe, as well as introducing a new superhero companion for future adventures. Pham's colorful, cartoon art shines when portraying the mischievous kitty's defiant expressions as he wreaks havoc and Magnolia's baffled but indulgent response to the mayhem. By now readers know the PIB formula (numerous monster emergencies, an equal number of ninjaesque fight scenes, an ever-patient and pleasant Magnolia), and though this eleventh installment breaks no new ground, it is sure to please. - Copyright 2024 Booklist.
