School Library Journal - 04/01/2026 K-Gr 3—Books about vehicles are perennial favorites and these titles about various sorts of boats and ships will fit right in. A quick explanation of each kind of craft is followed by a diagram labeling its main parts. A sidebar with small images identifies different types of vessels within that category, such as attack, research, or tourist submarines. A list of "Ship Stats" gives the name, size, top speed, and purpose of a particular type of ship as an example of its classification. Another diagram shows something important about the craft, like how to hook up a tug boat or how fans move a hovercraft. Glossary terms appear in bold text. Suggestions for further reading appear in the back matter along with the glossary and directions on accessing online resources at the FactSurfer website.
