Booklist - 02/01/2025 This opener of a new chapter-book series, written by real-life twins Dankenbring and Harvey, sees Black twins Neecy and Nay Nay on their first adventure. When Nay Nay gets gum stuck in her hair and has to visit the hair salon, she and her twin become inspired to open a hair salon at home after Ms. Yvonne, the hair stylist, gets the gum out quickly. The twins open “Neecy and Nay Nay’s House of Style,” offering facials, hair styling, and manicures. Winging it as they go, they hilariously use food items, fish scales, and weird hairstyles to make their friends beautiful. When their friends complain, Neecy and Nay Nay must find a way to appease their angry customers. Black-and-white multimedia illustrations add to the humorous situations. A snickerdoodle recipe pertaining to the story and glossary of big words concludes. This tale is highly engaging and entertaining, and young readers will surely want more of Neecy and Nay Nay. Style this with Elliott Smith’s Bo at the Buzz series. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
