Booklist - 01/01/2025 The Continents Uncovered series (6 titles) introduces young readers to the major continents of the world through stylized illustrations, maps, and fact boxes with a strong focus on geography and ecology. Each title in the series provides chapters on major regions of interest and includes information on climate, ecological habitats, and flora and fauna as well as people and cultures in the various regions. Australia and Antarctica may be the smallest continents, but they are home to the most unique species of plants and animals in the world, as shown with the dugong (Great Barrier Reef), the koala (Australian outback), the grey-green fruit dove (Tahiti), and the Weddell seals (Antarctic Peninsula). Each title includes back matter with a quiz, glossary, and index. A highlight of this series is the step-by-step, inquiry-based STEM and art activities to be completed with an adult in each of the titles. These titles make geography, ecology, and cultural studies both fun and interesting. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
