In Battles of the American Civil War, a banner in the page corner lists the date, winner, and casualties for each battle discussed. An "Eyewitness to History" section includes a relevant primary source. A page of "True Statistics" is provided along with a glossary and list of books for further reading. "People to Know" has images and biographical details about figures such as Ely Parker and Rebecca Lee Crumpler.
