School Library Journal - 04/01/2026 Gr 3–6—These titles pair the graphic novel format with topics of interest ranging from artificial intelligence to skateboards. Readers can explore the changes in comic books over the years or be amazed that drone development can be traced back to Civil War use of hot air balloons for aerial surveillance. Illustrations capture the thrill of early skateboarders as they "carve some asphalt" or show Alan Turing at work on his codebreaking machine. The comic book title has a narrator who pops out of a panel in the book and addresses readers directly. There is also discussion of the controversy over generative AI and creators who believe it infringes on their work. Source notes, a glossary, suggested books and websites for further reading, and an index are provided in the back matter. VERDICT Sure to be popular due to the content as well as its presentation. - Copyright 2026 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
