Booklist - 10/01/2025 Who’s this party of Dungeons-&-Dragons-looking folks appearing out of thin air? Why shouldn’t Sydney Poblocki, sick of moving from one foster family to another, go with them, especially if it means becoming a member of their multiverse-protecting paladin order? But wait! Who is Rodeo Hawkins, not to mention her Daughters of Mayhem, and why is she claiming the paladins have been murdering Sydney Poblockis from across the multiverse in the name of some ancient prophecy? Are they “interdimensional scoundrels” or a subversive resistance out to protect the cosmos’s final Sydney Poblocki? And what about Sydney, anyway? Is he the key to the destruction of the multiverse or just a lonely kid looking for somewhere he can belong? That’s a lot of questions, and finding the answers requires intricate exposition, rip-snorting action, hefty doses of snarky humor, and a dab of poignant emotion. Luckily, the art is zany and free-wheeling enough to support the pace, and the humor is realistically designed and tightly composed enough to ground the emotion and the cosmic and Sydney's personal stakes. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
