Full Text Reviews:

Booklist - 06/01/2025 Young fans of the Percy Jackson TV series and Marvel movies will enjoy the Little Myths series, which recounts the origins of famous mythical monsters and gods, but readers without any prior knowledge of Greek and Norse mythology might struggle. Funny and conversational, with crisp, comics-influenced illustrations, these retellings of ancient myths unfortunately miss the mark by not including a pronunciation guide or glossary. Medusa: The Making of a Monster puts forth a sympathetic account of Medusa’s tragic and villainous origin story. The text itself assumes the reader is already aware of Medusa’s story and introduces an entire pantheon of Greek gods without including any pronunciation help. Similarly, the story contains rich vocabulary but only a single in-text definition. This series is entertaining and educational but may prove difficult for beginning readers and mythology neophytes. Recommended as supplementals for libraries with well-stocked mythology sections. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
