Booklist - 09/01/2025 Chloe Vega is the 12-year-old daughter of undocumented immigrants, and the fear of her family being separated plagues her. However, after being gifted a strange object by her quirky neighbor, she discovers an enchanting organization called the Agents of Magic, which her parents were a part of! When they left the organization, they weren’t able to leave everything behind, including a feud with the evil sorcerer Osthall. After her parents are kidnapped by Osthall, Chloe enters the Academy for Earth’s Agents of Magic, even though she has reservations regarding the agency, in order to tune into her powers and reunite her family. In this timely work, Adame handles discussions of immigration, forced family separation, and identity with love and care. This middle-grade debut tugs hard at the heartstrings, but it will also have readers giggling at Chloe and her newfound friends’ antics. This fast-paced tale is a great pick for fans of magic, especially those who want to find the magic within themselves. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
