School Library Journal - 05/01/2025 Gr 2–4—Spooky ghost stories abound in these slim, straightforward volumes featuring a different location and ghost in each one. Travelers encounter apparitions in various haunted places and sometimes even help them move on: a child ghost is reunited with her sisters in St. Augustine, a jilted lover stops haunting a bridge in Vermont, a boy befriends ghosts on the historic ship St. Mary, a ghost attaches to a visitor at Eastern State Penitentiary, a couple has a ghostly experience in Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, and a girl experiences ghosts in the haunted and historical Lemp Mansion. Young fans of ghost stories won't be able to resist these tales, which also serve as a safe introduction to the vast world of scary tales for kids. While they won't traumatize anyone, they may inspire kids to seek out more. VERDICT Recommended for collections in which tales for reluctant readers are in demand. - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
