School Library Journal - 06/01/2025 K-Gr 4—Amos loves a snowy day—whenever one is predicted, the stunningly illustrated picture book follows Amos as he prepares all the animals at the zoo with necessary knitwear. Not only a fun read-aloud, but this book also explores many different elementary concepts. From weather to zoo animals to warm winter items of clothing, this would fit any primary or elementary collection. Erin Stead uses woodblock and pencil to showcase the ongoing story as well as to provide a glimpse into secondary or background information. The illustrator also has several pages without print, which would provide an excellent opportunity to "read" the picture for key information. VERDICT Building an understanding of winter vocabulary, this is an excellent addition to any collection.—Tara Rollins - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.

Booklist - 08/01/2025 *Starred Review* In the third story about amiable zookeeper Amos McGee, fans and new readers alike will discover a warm, cozy, and inviting tale about winter and its wonders. The story begins with Amos, along with a rabbit and a mouse, listening anxiously to the radio in the hope that snow will be forecast, as Amos simply loves snow. All week there has been only wind and rain, but finally the voice on the radio announces, “Today is the first big snow!” Amos bundles up, boards the number five bus, and busily works on his knitting, having gifts to complete before he arrives at the zoo. As each animal (elephant, tortoise, penguin, rhinoceros, and owl) wears the thoughtful winter garments Amos created for them, they quietly anticipate and await the first snowflake. Though the snow doesn’t arrive when predicted—as often happens—the friends soon find themselves partaking in numerous winter activities, such as sledding and making snow angels. The handmade woodblock printing and pencil illustrations are spot on as they portray the kindness with which the friends treat each other. The sweetness in their facial expressions is heartwarming, as they all truly care for one another and find joy in spending time together. A winter friendship story that will resonate with children and adults alike. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
