The books cover about ten disasters each, some focusing on the great loss of life, some on the destruction caused, and others on the suffering of the survivors. For example, the Exxon Valdez disaster is covered in Worst of the Worst Shipwrecks! because although there were no human lives lost, the impact on the shoreline and local wildlife is still being felt today. Tweens and teens will appreciate the trust in their maturity in the treatment of topics like the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571.
