Booklist - 01/01/2026 In this third installment of the series, Amina is helping her family with money troubles. Being new to America is hard, and overhearing adults worry about affording groceries and a better life makes it even harder. Amina takes it upon herself to help by couponing and selling food at school (though she later learns this isn't allowed). When her family also faces unpleasant racism in a grocery store, the larger community rallies around them, offering support and raising money. Grayscale illustrations throughout reflect the events of the story while breaking up the text for newly independent readers still adjusting to longer books. The text is kept accessible for readers as well, though a glossary of Arabic words in the story would have been helpful. Overall, this is a strong choice for early-chapter-book shelves, particularly where readers look for resilient, relatable heroines. - Copyright 2026 Booklist.
