Booklist - 04/01/2019 Book reports are a school staple, and while most children get the idea of how they should be written early on, this volume, part of the Write It Right series (8 titles), explains the process for those who need a push. It also shows how to polish up reports for those looking to make theirs shine. The authors begin by explaining the whys of book reporting. As to the hows, they offer readers a simple charting method that allows them to pick out the key elements of the report: plot, characters, setting, and opinion. For nonfiction, the chart includes main ideas, interesting facts, and book setup (e.g., is there an index?). After charting, the book shows how to write the actual report with plenty of examples throughout. Bright graphics enliven this helpful how-to. - Copyright 2019 Booklist.
