Full Text Reviews:

Booklist - 01/01/2026 Eliza can think of lots of things she’d rather do than clean her room, so it’s no wonder that she gets distracted when a purple-crowned fairy wren comes “tap-tap-tapping” at her window. While a real bird, its presence in Cape Cod could only be the work of magic, and sure enough, music is coming through the tiny fairy door in Eliza’s bedroom. With a swoosh! the door opens, and Eliza finds herself back in the Land of Fairy with Haiku the dragonfly, only this time they are at the edge of a hobgoblin village. Eliza must draw upon her knowledge of fairy lore, first to see the tiny mischievous beings and once more when her wish for a magically clean room backfires, resulting in an extra-messy hobgoblin infestation. Wen’s charming illustrations adorn the short chapters of this enchanted adventure with color and whimsy as the hobgoblins cause chaos in Eliza’s room. Her quick thinking and imagination save her from trouble (with her mother) and act as a wink to readers, who know that magic exists all around. - Copyright 2026 Booklist.
