Booklist - 05/01/2025 In the latest installment of the Adventures on Trains series, readers follow Harrison “Hal” Beck on his travels with his uncle Nat to visit the Arctic city of Narvik. Excited to celebrate St. Lucia Day and catch a glimpse of the northern lights, Hal takes the opportunity to document his trip in drawings. But the journey takes a turn when Uncle Nat’s friend and planned travel companion, Morti, suddenly disappears. To make matters worse, a shadowy figure from Uncle Nat’s past seemingly follows them on the train, and they soon find themselves trying to outwit an assassin. Using Hal’s drawings as clues to unravel the mystery, Leonard and Sedgman weave a tense and suspenseful story that unfolds quickly as Hal finds himself braving an avalanche, racing on a reindeer-driven sleigh, and even performing a rescue on thin ice. Illustrator Paganelli’s drawings add a refreshing air of sophistication, perfectly executing budding artist Hal’s visual journaling. Any lover of trains, mystery, or art will find something to enjoy in this exciting novel. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
