School Library Journal - 03/03/2023 K-Gr 4—This early reader introduces kids to superheroes Ant-Man and the Wasp. It begins with the event that brought them together and launched their friendship. Then, each one is presented individually. Readers discover interesting parts of their pasts, how they came to be defenders of truth, and more about their powers and specially designed suits. Mini stories about other groups the two have collaborated with are included in the book; many readers will recognize the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. Every superhero has at least one nemesis, and Yellowjacket and Ultron are usually around to keep Ant-Man and the Wasp extremely busy. This duo of Ant-Man and the Wasp help each other out when tough situations arise. The story is kept simple, and the number of words on the page will not overwhelm younger children. Illustrations are colorful and action-packed; children will be captivated by the drawings of superheroes, villains, and insects. Reading about Ant-Man and the Wasp will encourage most emerging readers to learn more about other superheroes. VERDICT A great book about teamwork, and a valuable addition to a library or classroom.—Barbara Spiri - Copyright 2023 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
