Booklist - 10/01/2025 When the cyclotron built by 18-year-old Genevieve Newhouse accidentally explodes at the second Chicago World’s Fair in 1934 (blame it on the sexist scientists who wouldn’t let a girl demonstrate her own device), she is saved from the catastrophic explosion by Ash, a young man also visiting the fair who has the convenient ability to travel back in time. Though he’s usually only been able to rewind time by a few minutes, this time he and Genevieve fall back 41 years to the first Chicago World’s Fair in 1893. Now the two must work together to try to get back to their own time—and to stop the impending apocalypse. In this third book featuring one of the intrepid Newhouse sisters, Kulper explores issues of class, race, and gender, especially in the sciences. Though the science of time travel is a little fuzzy, the story is full of action and heart, and at least a few unexpected twists. Give to readers who like a little mystery and adventure in their historical fiction, especially ones featuring a spunky lead. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
