School Library Journal - 03/01/2026 Gr 2–4—Friends You and Me, decked out in cardboard box helmets and eccentric hero attire, are eager for an exciting adventure. What could go wrong? As the two walk through a forest, they discover a hole. It's not an ordinary hole, but a big, deep one. When You falls in, Me rushes to make the save. Their fall isn't a short trip, so they find ways to entertain each other. They have a wonderful peanut butter sandwich picnic complete with a table and chairs as they descend until they finally crash down. As they continue their journey, they encounter strange lands and even deeper holes. At each level, they meet up with all sorts of interesting companions and creatures. Many are helpful; others are not. This story starts with a bang and keeps up the pace. It's action-packed, humorous, and full of entertainment. Readers will enjoy the banter between the characters and will share the anxiety Me and You experience as they outrun the fearsome peanut butter beast. Griffiths and Hope collaborate well to lend the tale a visually dynamic, graphic novel appearance. The illustrations are perfect for the text, and readers will enjoy pointing out the fun things going on in the background of each detailed spread. VERDICT This exciting second book in the series is zany and entertaining, perfect for fans of the first.—Barbara Spiri - Copyright 2026 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
