School Library Journal - 10/01/2025 K-Gr 2—Six-year-old first grader Ava Lin is back in this third book of the series, in which she is excited for her grandma, called Popo in Chinese, to visit. Popo's visit coincides with the school walkathon, in which Ava is determined to win a gold medal. The preparation for the Walkathon, coupled with Popo's visit, turn out to be overwhelming for Ava, as she struggles to balance everything she wants and needs to do. Ava and her family model healthy behaviors for calming down, setting goals, and recognizing emotions. Kids will enjoy the relatable situations and the frequent, simple but effective illustrations. VERDICT A suggested purchase where early chapter books are popular. - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
