School Library Journal - 04/01/2026 Gr 2–4—Applying a tourist sheen to geological sites across the globe, this series allows readers to connect the beauty of the natural world to the roots of its scientific formation. With such a visually appealing topic, it is no surprise that the art is largely composed of photographs of the titular location. There are also maps and some illustrations peppered throughout to explain the science and show where in the world these wonders are. Larger interconnected topics across the series include hexagonal efficiency and the legacy or lore connected to each destination. Traveling and tourism are tied to conservation, awareness, and the importance of taking care of the selected sites. VERDICT A beautiful look at natural wonders that teaches geology and applies a thoughtful approach to travel. These make fun earth science report topics that can connect to other areas of interest like social studies. - Copyright 2026 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
