Booklist - 02/01/2024 The Amazing Moments in Sports series (6 titles) presents memorable events in a variety of sports. The series includes individual as well as team sports and accomplishments by women athletes as well as men. The use of graphic-novel storytelling and colorful illustrations offers instant appeal for more visual readers. Each slender book is modest in size, with 16 pages introducing and narrating the featured subject, as well as a few pages of related facts and several color photos in the back matter. Each story unfolds in text boxes and panels of illustrations, in which speech balloons carry remarks from athletes, coaches, spectators, and commentators. Curse of the Bambino opens in 2004, when the Red Sox won the World Series, ending the 86-year “curse” that began when their star player, Babe Ruth, was traded to the Yankees. Recommended for young fans interested in sports history. - Copyright 2024 Booklist.
