Booklist - 10/01/2025 Spaghetti the mouse simply adores collecting. It doesn’t much matter what: cocktail umbrellas, toilet paper rolls, and discarded sprinkles are all snatched up, but Spaghetti’s real passion is amassing his namesake pasta. Alas, his treasures aren’t as appreciated by others; his family sees his collecting as messy and excessive, and they eventually demand that he pare down his vast piles. Spaghetti is determined to find a way to keep his cherished belongings, and after putting on his thinking cap (a festive pencil shaving), the industrious mouse gets to work, fashioning an extraordinary installation that can be enjoyed by all of the resident rodents. The darling story scores high marks in both coziness and creativity, from Spaghetti’s meticulous mouse hole to his fanciful inventions, and budding artists or inventors will particularly relish his unusual approach. The softly textured pencil, oil paint, and print illustrations are adorable, and it’s impossible not to smile at Spaghetti contentedly lounging on his favorite pasta. An enormously appealing entreaty to find beauty and inspiration in every corner. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
