School Library Journal - 10/01/2025 Gr 1–3—Bo is a second grader who loves music, science, and spending time with his friends and family. He also has achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism that means some of his bones are shorter than other kids'. In this engaging series, Bo navigates relatable childhood challenges: he doesn't get the role he hoped for in the school play, worries about making mistakes during his piano recital, breaks a string on his dad's guitar, and explores the different sounds shoes make in a creative sound experiment. Each book contains four short chapters, accessible text, and colorful illustrations that fill much of each page, helping early readers stay engaged. Back matter includes a glossary, information about achondroplasia, discussion questions, and an activity guide that ties into the story. VERDICT A thoughtful, well-written series that combines everyday kid experiences with music and disability representation. A strong choice for diversifying early reader collections and ensuring all children can see themselves in stories. - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
