Booklist - 03/01/2025 The Environmental Concerns series conveys the seriousness of pollution and natural disasters without resorting to sensationalism or fearmongering. Employing evenhanded writing, each text clearly defines the key concept being examined and walks readers through common causes and effects, both natural and human made. Sustainable practices that help mitigate environmental harm are highlighted, as are simple actions for children to take, such as recycling or biking somewhere (if it’s safe to do so) rather than being driven. The impacts of melting ice flow through Sea Levels and Ice Caps, which addresses global warming and habitat loss for Arctic animals. Large photos fill each page of these volumes and drive home the subject matter, while the text, printed in a large font, rarely exceeds three sentences per page. Solid starting points for environmental studies. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
